Strength in Stillness
“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) is more than just a verse—it’s an invitation to let go of our striving and lean into God’s sovereignty. In a culture that values constant activity and achievement, this command to pause can feel counterintuitive. Yet, it’s in the stillness that we find our true strength.
The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42 provides a powerful example. Martha was busy serving, while Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. Martha’s work wasn’t wrong, but her distraction kept her from the most important thing—spending time in the presence of Jesus.
When life feels overwhelming, remember that God doesn’t demand perfection or productivity from us. Instead, He invites us to rest in Him. It’s in moments of stillness that He renews our strength, offers clarity, and reminds us of His unchanging faithfulness.
