Strength in Stillness

Today's Scripture

Psalm 23:1-6

Today's Insights

Psalm 23 is one of the most cherished scriptures in the Bible, illustrating God’s intimate care for His people. Written by King David, the psalm’s language portrays the Lord as a shepherd who guides, provides, and protects His sheep. Its vivid imagery of green pastures, still waters, and restored souls offers a reminder of God’s unwavering presence in every circumstance of life.

David’s experiences as a shepherd in his youth undoubtedly shaped this poetic expression of trust in God. The psalm also foreshadows the work of Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd, who lays down His life for His sheep (John 10:11). Whether walking through dark valleys or resting in His blessings, we can rest in the truth that God is both our protector and our eternal guide.

Today's Devotional

Strength in Stillness

“Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10) is more than just a verse—it’s an invitation to let go of our striving and lean into God’s sovereignty. In a culture that values constant activity and achievement, this command to pause can feel counterintuitive. Yet, it’s in the stillness that we find our true strength.

The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42 provides a powerful example. Martha was busy serving, while Mary chose to sit at Jesus’ feet and listen. Martha’s work wasn’t wrong, but her distraction kept her from the most important thing—spending time in the presence of Jesus.

When life feels overwhelming, remember that God doesn’t demand perfection or productivity from us. Instead, He invites us to rest in Him. It’s in moments of stillness that He renews our strength, offers clarity, and reminds us of His unchanging faithfulness.

Reflect & Pray

Where do you need to find stillness today? How can you surrender your busyness and trust God’s control?

Lord, teach me to embrace the quiet moments and seek Your presence above all else. Help me to trust that in stillness, I find Your strength.
