Embracing God's New Work
Today's Scripture
Isaiah 43:18-19
Today's Insights
In Isaiah 43:18-19, God speaks through the prophet: "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland." This passage encourages us to release past events and open our hearts to the new works God is initiating in our lives.
Today's Devotional
Life is a journey filled with transitions—some anticipated, others unexpected. Often, we find ourselves clinging to past experiences, whether they are successes we wish to relive or failures we struggle to forget. However, God calls us to shift our focus from what has been to what He is currently doing.
In Isaiah 43:18-19, God invites His people to "forget the former things" and recognize the "new thing" He is bringing forth. This doesn't mean we should disregard our past entirely, but rather not let it hinder us from embracing the present and future plans God has for us.
God's promise to "make a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland" assures us that He can bring renewal and hope even in the most desolate circumstances. Our role is to remain attentive and receptive, trusting that He is at work even when we cannot yet see the full picture.
Today, let's open our hearts to perceive the new things God is doing. By releasing our grip on the past, we make room to experience the fresh and transformative work He is accomplishing in and through us.
Reflect & Pray
- Are there past events or experiences you need to release to fully embrace God's new work in your life?
- How can you remain attentive to the "new things" God is initiating in your current circumstances?
Heavenly Father, help me to let go of the past and open my eyes to the new things You are doing in my life. Grant me the faith to trust in Your plans and the discernment to perceive Your work, even in unexpected places. Amen.
